Men’s Wellness Trends 2026
Why More Men Are Seeking Recovery Retreats
Men searching for wellness retreats has reached its highest level on record – reflecting a shift in how men approach mental health, recovery and wellness.
Google Trends data shows searches for “men’s retreat” in Australia have reached an all-time high between 2024 and 2026, indicating that more men are actively seeking a retreat where they can reset, recover, and prioritise their health.
The trend mirrors a wider cultural shift around men’s wellbeing.
According to research from the Australian Institute of Family Studies, up to a quarter of men will experience diagnosable mental health challenges during their lifetime, including depression, anxiety and isolation. Historically, men have been less likely than women to seek help, often due to stigma around vulnerability.
However, attitudes are changing. A 2023 study by Men’s Health found that 95% of surveyed men believe mental health is as important as physical health, while organisations such as Beyond Blue report that more men are now recognising when they need support and reaching out for help.
This growing awareness is driving demand for new types of wellness experiences focused on recovery, resilience, and longevity.
Search Interest Over Time for the term “men’s retreat” in Australia (2004–2026). It is important to note that Google Trends numbers on the Y-axis do not represent absolute search volume (total number of searches), but rather a normalised index of relative popularity.

The chart shows that “men’s retreat” reached its all-time high (100) within the 2024-2026 window.

What is a Men’s Wellness Retreat?
A men’s wellness retreat is a programme designed specifically for men, combining physical training, stress recovery, mental resilience practices and longevity-focused therapies. Unlike traditional spa retreats, many men’s retreats focus on performance, recovery, sleep optimisation and nervous system regulation.
These experiences are designed to provide practical tools that support long-term wellbeing rather than short-term escape.
For decades, destinations such as Bali have attracted travellers seeking yoga, meditation and personal transformation retreats. However many of these experiences have historically been designed primarily for women.
Jen Cottle, co-founder of Bali wellness retreat brand Escape Haven and the upcoming recovery-focused retreat concept Mana Sanctuary, says the shift has been building for years.
“For more than a decade we ran women’s wellness retreats in Bali, and one of the most common things we heard from guests was that their partners wished there was something similar for men,” Cottle said.
“What we’re seeing now is men becoming far more proactive about their health. They’re looking for environments where they can recover from stress, improve their physical performance and invest in their long-term wellbeing.”
Unlike traditional wellness retreats, the next generation of men’s experiences is likely to focus on practical outcomes such as recovery, physical training, stress management and longevity.
“Wellness for men often looks different,” Cottle said.
“It’s less about the spiritual narrative people often associate with retreats and more about mental clarity, physical recovery and performance.”

Men Focusing on Longevity & Performance
Where conversations around men’s health were once focused primarily on crisis support, many men are now seeking preventative approaches that support long-term vitality.
This includes areas such as:
- stress recovery and nervous system regulation
- sleep optimisation
- physical recovery and mobility
- mindfulness and mental resilience
- longevity and preventative health
The global men’s health and wellness market, valued at $1.42 trillion in 2024, is expected to grow significantly over the coming years as demand for these experiences expands.
Performance-Led Wellness
One of the most significant developments in the wellness travel space is the emergence of retreats designed around performance recovery and resilience.
Mana Sanctuary is one example of this shift. Created by founders Janine and Trent Cottle, the retreat was designed for high performers seeking structured recovery, mental clarity and long-term vitality rather than traditional relaxation-focused retreats.
Reflecting this philosophy, Olympic champion swimmer Michael Klim has been announced as an ambassador for Mana Sanctuary.
Following his own health journey after elite sport, Klim has become a leading voice in conversations around recovery, mental resilience and preventative wellbeing.
“My perspective on performance has completely changed over the years,” Klim said.
“What I know now is that the real advantage comes from how well you recover, how you regulate stress and how you build habits you can sustain. Mana aligns perfectly with that thinking. It’s not about quick fixes – it’s about creating foundations that allow you to keep showing up in life, sport and business.”
As part of the partnership, Klim will work with Mana to help shape conversations around modern resilience, men’s mental fitness and sustainable recovery. Plans are also underway for a Michael Klim-led retreat later this year.
Founder Janine Cottle says the partnership reflects a broader shift in how performance and wellbeing are understood.
“Michael represents the evolution of performance. He speaks honestly about rebuilding, about humility, and about the discipline of taking recovery seriously. This is the future of wellbeing, and it’s exactly what Mana was created to lead.”
